Symbolic of Drouant, the salons have been revived and embellished. They are once again ready to host the jury’s lively debates, as well as guests who want to enjoy a special private moment. The salons are fully equipped and can be used for any type of event, guaranteeing comfort, tranquility and discretion.
The mezzanine floor, which can accommodate up to 40 people, has been redesigned to offer a warm, intimate space.
In this light-filled area with its mosaic floor, guests can browse the library, home to original editions of all the books that have won the award since the Prix Goncourt began.
Known until now as the Rodin salon, it has been rechristened the Proust salon to mark the centenary of the Prix Goncourt, awarded to the writer for À l’ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs (In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flower).
Here you can see the original edition numbered 8/128, dated November 1918, which won the famous writer the Prix Goncourt in 1919. He is also honored on the walls, with an original fresco inspired by the novel, by the Italian artist Roberto Ruspoli.
This elegant salon with its warm atmosphere has hosted the monthly debates of the Académie Goncourt members since 1914. Witnesses to the history of great French literature, the walls surround the famous oval table where the ten judges sit, which can also accommodate up to 16 guests for a private event. Although guests will not be lucky enough to use the precious place settings engraved with the Academy members’ names, they can still appreciate the tableware specially created for the salon, featuring an exclusive 1930s motif from the archives of Bernardaud.
Elegance, culture and exclusivity are the watchwords of this almost sacred place.
The name is a tribute to Théophraste Renaudot (1586 – 1653), the King’s doctor, best known as the first French journalist who founded the “Gazette de France” in 1631. Since this literary award was created in 1926, this salon has received the members of the Renaudot jury every year.
It can also host between 3 and 12 people for professional or private events.
Also designed by Roberto Ruspoli, the high-relief sculptures on the walls feature 17th century figures, in a contemporary interpretation of the period.
A slightly secretive room for a special moment in which Colette, the first woman president of the Goncourt Academy, had a tête-à-tête lunch with a guest every week.
